"Happy 75th. Anniversary Blondie & Dagwood!"
I'd like to wish the comic strip BLONDIE a Happy 75th. Anniversary!
Our local newspapers have always carried this comic strip as far back as I can remember. I've watched "Baby Dumpling"(Alex) and "Cookie" grow up, watched their dog, "Daisy" have pups, "Blondie" become an independent business woman and of course, "Dagwood" constantly be late for work and knock down their mailman! So even though Chic Young is gone, his legacy lives on!
(P.S.: Be sure to click on the link above for a nice "Anniversary" drawing including the strip's cast as well as many other newspaper strip characters!)

The characters I could identify in that group drawing are from: Blondie (of course), Beetle Bailey, Flash Gordon, Dick Tracy, Hi and Lois, For Better or Worse, Garfield, Shoe, The Lockhorns, The Born Loser, Cathy, Ziggy, Hagar the Horrible, B.C., Dennis the Menace, Snuffy Smith, The Wizard of ID, Frank & Ernest, The Family Circus, Marmaduke, Marvin, Sally Forth, Zits, Arlo and Janis & Foxtrot, with two noticable absentees: Prince valiant and Andy Capp! Can YOU identify the ones I've missed???
...and that might be "Snoopy" from Peanuts bottom, middle right (but I'm not sure).
Thanks to a fellow chat board member, yet another strip has been identified. The one center bottom right side with the duckbill is Mallard Fillmore. Sitting with "Marmaduke" is Luanne( she was the girl who had her (.) during the continuity of the strip).
And another: the "shark" (behind Dick Tracy) is from Sherman's Lagoon.
...and yet MORE ID's! The cat and dog (which, incidently is not "Snoopy") are characters from the strip "Mutts". Characters from other strips that have been recognized are from "Baby Blues", "Tiger", & "Rose Is Rose". That's just about nailed it except for the old guy (?) right above the character from Blondie in the chef's hat.
The last character has been found! The old man above the chef is from the "Herman" strip! That's characters from 32 different strips! Great job!
Looks like I spoke too soon! The "grey dog" has been ID'd from Buckles! That brings the count of different strips up to 33! (MORE updates may be soon to come!)
And the last addition/corection for the day when we add: Gasoline Alley, Dilbert, Mother Goose and Grimm, Luann(spelled with NO "e"), and Curtis. Tomorrow I'll post a nice accurate and alphabetical list of the 38 (unless we ID MORE!) different strips identified.
